Former Conservative cabinet minister Helena Guergis has failed in her bid to sue Prime Minister Stephen Harper for firing her more than three years ago.
Ontario’s top court says her suit against Harper, the Conservative party and others cannot possibly succeed.
In its ruling, the Court of Appeal agreed with a lower court decision the suit was an abuse of process.
According to court documents, Guergis’s problems began in December 2009 amid allegations she had used cocaine at an Ottawa restaurant, and was involved in criminal activity with her husband Rahim Jaffer.
The former Simcoe-Grey MP was never charged with any crime.
Guergis had sought damages worth more than one million dollars from Harper, his former chief of staff, former principal secretary, the Tory party, and others.
